This rural Sydney home is a testament to connection to place. Clad in native-toned metals - conveying connotations of the conventional rural 'shed' - and spotted gum, this residence evolved from the resolution of a brief of capturing expansive southern views whilst also providing a comfortable and passive space in which to live. This house holds its kitchen at its heart and is both served by, and sits comfortably within, productive kitchen, native, and formal garden zones. Care has been taken throughout the design process to ensure this residence has appropriate passive design features working in conjunction with more modern sustainable solutions to create not only a comfortable family home but also a house which performs with a minimal footprint.
